Jack F. Edgerton
Executive Director
Jack is a well-known figure in the Northwest non-profit community, having been involved in
different aspects of non-profit management for over 30 years. Before joining Facing the Future,
Jack served for twelve years as Executive Director of Parent Trust for Washington Children, a
statewide family support agency dedicated to promoting early learning, strengthening families
and preventing child abuse and neglect. His non-profit experience spans both human services
and the arts, having worked with Childhaven, The Bathhouse Theatre, Tacoma Actors Guild and
various other non-profits. Jack’s experience also includes senior level marketing and advertising
work in various for-profit corporations including Motorola, Inc. in Chicago, Racon, Pacific
Pipeline and Altcom/American Sharecom.
Over the years, Jack has worked to help create a better community by volunteering with various
organizations including: Circle of Parents – National Board of Directors; Family Support
Washington – Statewide Chair; King County Children’s Initiative – Board Member; Regional
Service Network of Kitsap/Jefferson/Clallam counties – Mental Health Services Board member;
Lifelong AIDS Alliance – AIDS Walk Steering Committee; Seattle Treatment & Education
Project – Board of Directors; Bailiwick Repertory Theatre, Chicago – Board member emeritus.
Teaching Experience
Jack caught the teaching bug while still in college, working summers as a Teacher’s Aide at a Seattle area pre-school. While working with various non-profits, Jack spearheaded various education efforts including arts education, mentoring and parent education programs. Most recently, he oversaw the Washington State office of Parents as Teachers, the largest in-home early learning program in the United States.
Global Perspective
Jack has traveled in the US, Canada, Mexico and Western Europe. As the future unfolds, he plans to keep his eyes, ears and heart open to all our world has to offer.
Education
Jack attended Lewis and Clark College in Portland, OR. He holds a Bachelor of
Arts in Theatre/Drama from the University of Washington, Seattle and a Bachelor of Arts in
Communications/Advertising from the University of Washington, Seattle. Jack completed the
Evans School of Public Affairs, University of Washington Nonprofit Executive Leadership
Institute in 2009.
