Host a Hunger Banquet!
http://www.oxfam.org/

Age group: All ages
Geographic area: Worldwide

Organize a "Hunger Banquet" to build awareness and raise money to alleviate global poverty. A real Oxfam Hunger Banquet is a banquet without much food. Each person attending is randomly assigned a role. 15% of the people get a role in the high income group; these people sit at a table and enjoy a three-course meal. 25% of the people get a role in the middle income group; they sit in chairs and eat rice and beans. 60% of the attendees sit on the floor, and receive only rice and water. They are the low income group, and for one meal, they suffer the fate of the millions of people throughout the world who live in poverty. A Hunger Banquet can be done with just your class (e.g., for lunch one day), with parents, or as a school/community event.
