Building tomorrow

Take a stand seat for your peers in Uganda
www.buildingtomorrow.org

Age group: Grades K-12
Geographic area: Worldwide

Building Tomorrow encourages philanthropy among young people by raising awareness and funds to build and support educational infrastructure projects for vulnerable children in sub-Saharan Africa. You and your class can join Building Tomorrow in the fight against poverty by becoming a part of the Sit for Good campaign.

Building Tomorrow works in Uganda to identify areas where there are many vulnerable children with little or no access to a primary school. They then purchase a plot of land and, with the help of the local community, construct a ten-room school. Donor communities, such as schools or churches, raise the $45,000 needed to build a school and the local communities contribute 25,000 hours of labor to construct the school.

In addition to or in lieu of donations students can participate in Sit for Good in which you and your classmates agree to give up your desks and other classroom luxuries for a day (extra pens, pencils, books, electronics, etc.) and sit on the floor to raise awareness about the need for some of the most basic learning tools in classrooms around the world. Building Tomorrow also provides lesson plans with national standards, classroom activities, discussion topics, and background information for classrooms participating in the program.

Register online for access to everything you and your class needs to participate in Sit for Good by filling out the registration form.
