EPA's Climate CHECK
Investigate your school's greenhouse gas emissions and teach others how to make everyday changes for a positive impact on the climate.

Age group: Grades 9-12
Geographic area: U.S.
You can play a proactive role in reducing your school's greenhouse gas emissions by investigating the link between everyday actions students take at school with greenhouse gas emissions and climate change.
Using the Environmental Protection Agency's Climate Change Emission Calculator Kit (Climate CHECK) you can learn about climate change, estimate your school's greenhouse gas emissions, and come up with ways to mitigate your school's climate impact. Through this project you will gain a detailed understanding of climate change drivers, impacts, and science; produce an emission inventory and action plan; and submit the results of your emission inventory to the school district.
You can also use Portfolio Manager to compare the energy use of your school with other schools nationwide, and earn the ENERGY STAR for your school if it qualifies as a top performer.
Visit the EPA's climate change site for resources and more information on how you can make a difference at school, on the road and at home.
