Ordering FAQs

How can I purchase Facing the Future resources?

You can purchase Facing the Future resources through our online store. If you need to use a purchase order, please email us with the purchase order. Once we receive the PO, we will review it and notify you of any corrections.

We will also need you to fill out a W-9 form in order to process the payment with Western Washington University’s purchasing system. We can send you an invoice once this initial process is complete.

What is my account? How can I create one?

Your account provides a simple way for you to download and purchase Facing the Future curriculum, and post comments and resource reviews on our website. You will be asked to create a new account the first time you download or purchase curriculum.

After completing a first-time account registration, you will receive a user registration confirmation email containing your username and password. Please save this information in a safe place.

I purchased a PDF. How do I download it?

Once a PDF is ordered, an email will be sent to you with an access link. Please use this link to access the file, but please remember that PDF links can only be clicked up to 3 times. After 3 clicks, you will not be able to access the file.

If I order a PDF, what are the restrictions on this file?

Each PDF file is for a single authorized user. When you order a PDF, you will be sent a link to access the file. The link can only be clicked on three times.

If you require multiple users for a text, we recommend ordering a print version.  If the file is only available as a PDF, you can contact us to inquire about the possibility of doing a print-on-demand order.

What is the format of a PDF? 

A PDF purchased through our website is only available as a digital download. You are purchasing an electronic (PDF) file.

I want a print version of a book that is only available as a PDF.  How can I do this?

Please contact us with any inquiries regarding print versions of our PDF texts.  We can let you know if it will be possible to do a print-on-demand order, and what the quote would be for such an order.

I have a coupon code. How can I use it?

For online purchases, you may enter a coupon code during the checkout process.
For purchase orders, write your coupon code and dollar amount of the coupon discount in the space provided on your order form.

Please read the terms and conditions of the coupon carefully. Coupons are valid only for full-price items and cannot be combined with volume discounts, other coupons or other promotions.

Signup for our eNews and subscribe to our social networks (Facebook and Twitter) to receive notice of special offers like coupon codes, new resource previews and contests.

I want to order a book that is out of stock. How can I do this?

Please contact us with any inquiries regarding out of stock books.  We can let you know if it will be possible to do a print-on-demand order, and what the quote would be for such an order. 

Do you accept international orders?

You may place an order from anywhere in the world using our online store. We accept payment by Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover.

Is there tax on my order?

Local sales and use taxes will be applied to all orders shipping within Washington state (including orders of PDF and digital resources placed within Washington state).

What are my shipping options? How long will delivery take?

For orders within the United States, we offer the following shipping options.
  • $5 shipping for any purchase up to $150.00. Delivery 5 - 14 days business days
  • FREE Shipping for any purchase over $150.00.
    • Faster shipping is available; however, customers will be responsible for the additional cost of shipping and handling.
For orders outside the United States, we offer the following shipping options. Please note that any customs duties or taxes applied are additional and to be paid by the recipient. Facing the Future is not responsible for any shipping delays related to customs clearance.
  • Fed Ex shipping based on weight. Delivery between 7-14 days
Please allow up to 5 business days for your order to be processed in addition to applicable shipping time. Expedited shipping may be available. To request an expedited shipping quote, please contact customer service.

Can I track my order?

You can view the status of your order and find shipping information by logging in to your account. Please allow 3-5 business days in order to view this information.

What is your return policy?

Purchases of pdfs or digital downloads are non-refundable. All other products can be returned within 14 days of the purchase date for a full refund. After 14 days, an up to 50% refund of the order total will be granted.

For partial order returns, a full refund can be processed for the item(s) being returned within 14 days of the purchase date. After 14 days, up to 50% of the item price can be refunded.

Items must be returned in the same condition in which you received them.

A refund will be initiated in the form of the original payment method and may take several business days to process.

We will begin refunding the proper amount of payment once the items are in our warehouse.

When returning Facing the Future curricula, it is the customer's responsibility to pay shipping. We do not take responsibility for items that are lost or damaged while the items are in transit for return.

Are Facing the Future resources available in languages other than English? What is your translation policy?

Facing the Future resources are currently available only in English. We are not able to authorize the translation of our resources into other languages. However, due to recent interest in translations, we are working on revising our translation policy.

Where can I find the details of Facing the Future’s copyright?  Can I copy, print or distribute your materials for educational purposes?

Facing the Future retains the copyright to the curriculum resources we publish in print and the digital resources published on our website.  This is our copyright statement:
In general, it is necessary to obtain advance, written permission to copy Facing the Future publications. However, given that worksheets, tests, quizzes and other student handouts in Facing the Future publications are designed to be copied and distributed in class, it is not necessary for an individual educator to request permission from Facing the Future to make copies of these student handouts for use by his or her students in a school or other nonprofit educational organization.    

Other than the exception outlined above for the non-commercial purposes of teachers and individual classrooms, USERS MAY NOT REPRODUCE, MODIFY, TRANSLATE, SELL OR DISTRIBUTE THE MATERIALS FOR ANY PURPOSE WITHOUT FACING THE FUTURE’S PRIOR WRITTEN AUTHORIZATION.  

To request written authorization, please contact Facing the Future at facingthefuture@wwu.edu. Users must provide proper attribution and identifying information for Facing the Future as the author and developer of the materials, and may not delete or in any manner alter any copyright, trademark or other proprietary rights notices that have been placed on the materials.

I want to share Facing the Future’s resources with other educators. How can I do this?

We ask that you direct educators to our website, www.facingthefuture.org, where they can download our resources and find additional materials. This allows educators the opportunity to stay connected with Facing the Future if they wish, and allows us to track and report on the usage of our resources. We are a nonprofit organization and information provided by our users is an essential part of our reporting to funders, and enables us to continue to create and offer high quality curriculum to educators all over the world.

If you work with educators who are unable to access our website and you would like to request permission to distribute PDFs or print copies of Facing the Future materials, please contact us.
